What happens if I run out of AI credits?

When you are approaching your credit limit or have reached it, you will see a warning message popup inside Tana Outliner on desktop.

You can continue recording voice memos as audio files and top up credits later. Top-up credits are valid for 12 months.

How does Tana Outliner Free compare to Plus and Pro?

Free is designed for casual use and trying out AI features in Tana Outliner.

Plus and Pro unlock the full power, including Google Calendar sync, publishing with password protection, unlimited workspaces, and integrations like Readwise.

How much AI is included in Tana Outliner's subscription plans?

Pro includes 5,000 monthly credits (around 22 meetings, 125 images, 570 blog posts, or 25 hours of transcription).

Plus includes 2,000 credits (8 meetings, 50 images, 220 posts, 10 hours of transcription).

Free includes 500 credits (100 minutes of meetings, 12 images, 57 posts, 106 minutes of transcription).

How can I check how many credits I have?

Click the user icon and select Account settings to see remaining credits and your renewal date.

In the mobile apps, open Settings. On desktop, press Cmd+K (Ctrl+K on Windows or Linux) and run "Open GPT log monitor" for detailed usage information.

Can I buy extra AI credits on Tana Outliner Free?

No, Free plan users cannot top up credits. To access more credits and remove usage limits, you will need to upgrade to a paid plan.

What happens if I downgrade to the Free plan?

You retain note-taking capabilities with 500 monthly AI credits. Integrations stop pulling data and password-protected publishing becomes unavailable, though core editor features remain accessible.

Do you offer any discounts?

Students, academics, and NGOs receive a 50% discount. Plus costs $5 per month or $48 per year; Pro costs $9 per month or $84 per year.
